How Answari handles personal information: what we collect, why, who processes it, how long we keep it, and the rights you have over it.
Who we are
Answari is a UK consultancy in Generative Engine Optimisation and Answer Engine Optimisation, based in Plymouth, Devon. This policy explains what personal information we collect through answari.co.uk and our work, why we collect it, and the rights you have over it. If you have any question about it, email hello@answari.co.uk.
The information we collect
- Enquiry details. When you use the contact form or email us, we receive the details you choose to send, such as your name, business name, website address, email address and the content of your message.
- Correspondence. Emails and messages exchanged with us in the course of an enquiry or an engagement.
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used in aggregate: pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, and how visitors arrive. This relies on cookies, described in our Cookie Policy.
- Technical logs. Our hosting provider records standard server logs, such as IP address and requested pages, for security and reliability.
How we use it
We use this information to respond to enquiries, to scope and deliver work you ask us to do, to keep sensible business records, and to understand and improve how the site performs. We do not sell personal information, and we do not add you to a marketing list without your consent.
Our lawful bases
Where UK data protection law requires a lawful basis, we rely on: taking steps you request before entering a contract, and performing that contract, for enquiries and client work; our legitimate interests in running, securing and improving a small consultancy; and consent where the law requires it, for example for non-essential cookies.
Who helps us process it
We use a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf: Vercel, which hosts the website; FormSubmit, which relays contact-form submissions to our inbox; Google, which provides our analytics and serves the fonts used on this site; and our email provider. Some of these providers process data outside the UK. Where they do, transfers rely on recognised safeguards such as the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
Retention periods are specific. Enquiries that do not lead to an engagement are deleted within 12 months. Engagement records and related correspondence are kept for six years after the engagement ends, in line with UK tax record-keeping requirements. Google Analytics 4 event data is retained for 14 months. Records of consent and any suppression requests are kept for as long as required to demonstrate compliance. When information is no longer needed, we delete it.
Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable format. To exercise any of these, email hello@answari.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
